A Life Long Memory

I have chosen this football ad due to its history in my life. Football was always one of my favorite sports to play and watch. I grew up on it. My friends and I would gather after school and play some backyard games. You do not see that as often in new generations, and it makes me pretty sad. As I sit here and think about how this ad is processed in a neural aspect, a few things come to mind. First, It brings back memories. More specifically, declarative episodic memories. This just means that I have experienced them and am able to recall them with some effort. While thinking of this, I also thought of where memory is stored. Well, this is long term memory, so it happens to be placed in the hippocampus. In addition, with memory comes emotion. The limbic system deals with raw emotion, so it is involved. But, more specifically the amygdala is being used to bring about certain emotions and responses to the ad. On another note, I must also think about how I am seeing the ad. The eyes are a complex body part that allow one of the most prized gifts we have as humans, vision. Photoreceptors are being used to detect light and color. A few cranial nerves such as I, III, IV, and VI are being used for vision and eye movement. And the occipital lobe is the prime brain section that is involved in vision. So, lets get back to the backyard football games. It will give you memories that last a lifetime.
